Nkhotakota District Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Chisomo Chuma has confirmed the death of a 15 year old girl after she committed suicide.
Chuma has identified the deceased as Shakira Augustine and had just finished Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education examinations at St. Paul’s Primary School in the district.
Chuma explained that the late Shakira was found hanging from a tree behind the house after an aguement with parents.
“The late Shakira Augustine, left her home on Saturday and reported back in the evening , her parents asked her to explain where she was. She said she went to her friend’s house . They later told her to go back where she was,” Chuma explained.
A postmortem conducted at Nkhotakota District Hospital , show that death was due to strangulation.
