POLICE in Mansa of Luapula Province are holding a 44-year old man for hacking his wife after returning from a drinking spree in the early hours of yesterday.

Mable Mwamba 38 aged has since been evacuated to the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka while her husband, Andrew Chambi is detained in police custody.

Confirming the incident to ZANIS in Mansa, Luapula Province Acting Commanding Officer Daniel Mseteka said the victim was in a critical condition.

Mseteka revealed that the couple picked a quarrel which led Chambi to hacking his wife with an object which immediately rendered her unconscious.

Following the incident, the victim was rushed to Mansa general Hospital where she regained consciousness before being referred to the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka.
