The Copyright Society of Malawi (COSOMA) has on Wednesday afternoon confiscated entertainment systems in a number of entertainment centres in Nkhatabay district, including drinking joints, used for playing music by local artists without permission.

COSOMA distribution officer, Shadrack Kuntengo said that anyone needs to seek authorisation to play local music in public places for commercial purposes, because the songs are protected.

Kuntenga has therefore advised all bar owners and those who play music in public places, to seek authorisation by obtaining licenses from the institution.
