Some concerned citizen led by Network of Action against Presidential Immunity will tomorrow hold demonstrations in the ever green city of Mzuzu.
The protesters want President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to trim some of his powers so that he can be prosecuted if he is involved in any corruption scandal in the country.
Speaking during media briefing ahead of the demonstrations, lead organizer Gomezgani Nkhoma said scrapping off of presidential immunity will show that President Lazarus Chakwera is serious in fighting against corruption.
He said the call is a follow up on Chakwera’s campaign promises where he promises to amend section 91 of the republican constitution.
Nkhoma has since hinted that the demonstrations will be peaceful.
