Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa has vowed that he will continue discharging his duties as Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South.

Nankhumwa said this during a mega rally held at Nyambadwe Community Ground in the commercial capital Blantyre on Sunday.

Turning to the party’s convention, Nankhumwa hinted that he will contest as President.

He said Arthur Peter Mutharika’s leadership of the party expires in 2023 “and he has never said that he will stand.”

On her part, DPP estranged Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey said party supporters are waiting for the convention.

She also spoke against people who she said are suspending others in the party, saying they should hold their breath and face each other at the convention.

DPP is scheduled to hold the elective conference next year.
