A coffin carrying the remains of a 35 year old woman of Kabo area in Kasengo Ward of Chikankata district has refused to move out of the house of a man suspected be to behind her death.
The coffin for the woman identified as Makelele Muchisali, who died after a short illness as remained rooted in the house of Large Mutelo for two nights.
On Wednesday afternoon, the coffin refused to be buried at the graveyard and drove pall bearers to Mutelo’s home.
Attempts by Police Officers from Turnpike to remove the coffin from the table failed as it was rooted.
According to an account from an eye witnesses, coffin refused to move because the owner of the house is not around, with Mutelo said to be on the run, leaving behind his two wives and several children stranded sleeping in the cold.
This was after a mob burnt down structures in the yard and harvested the suspect’s Maize field.
And Mazabuka District Commissioner, Oliver Mulomba, who confirmed the development, has called on the Police to arrest anyone accusing Mutelo of witchcraft.
He says that government will not allow people to cause confusion in the community and continue accusing people of practicing witchcraft.
