A police officer responsible for road traffic activities has been fined half million kwacha for causing death due to reckless driving in Luchenza.
First Grade Magistrate Kondani Chinangwa pronounced the sentence on Thursday after he found Sergeant James Luciano guilty of causing death by reckless driving, driving a motor vehicle without valid papers and a driving licence.
Magistrate Chinangwa before delivering his ruling said, Sergeant Luciano being a law enforcement officer could have been the last person to drive without any document and that the punishment should serve as a warning to other officers.
His actions, claimed life of an eight year old boy.
