President Lazarus Chakwera has left the country for Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where he will attend the 42nd Ordinary Summit of the Southern Africa Development Community (Sadc).

According to a press statement from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conference will take place in Kinshasa from 17th to 18th August 2022.
During the meeting, Chakwera is expected to hand over the Sadc chairmanship to President of DRC Felix Tshisekedi Tshilombo.

President Chakwera says he believes he has ably performed his duty as chairperson for Sadc during his tenure.

The President said the region continues to work together towards better transport infrastructure and peace in the region.
