Police in Lumbadzi are keeping in custody two people, a man and female for allegedly being found in possession of pangolin.

The suspects have since been charged with illegal possession of specimen of listed species and government trophies contrary to section 110(b) of National Parks and Wildlife Act.

The two; Martha Jussa, 32 and Peter Mandala, 51 were arrested on August 21, 2022 in Lumbadzi.

On this material day, Wildlife Crime Investigation Unit were tipped by members of the public that the said suspects were possessing and selling the prohibited animals in Lumbadzi.

The officers in conjunction with Lumbadzi Police detectives arrested the two who were found with the live Pangolins which was hidden in a sack bag.

The suspects will appear before the court after the completion of paperwork.

Meanwhile, Police wish to thank members of the public for their support in the fight against wildlife crime in the area.

Jussa hail from Traditional Authority Chingoli in Chiradzulo while Mandala comes from Nthiru village Traditional Authority Mponera in Dowa district.
