Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza has set 11th October for a ruling on an application by the Anti-Corruption Bureau to consolidate the cases for former finance minister Joseph Mwanamvekha, former homeland minister Nicholas Dausi and three others for the alleged abuse of K19 billion in the procurement of Malawi Prison Uniforms and equipment.

Meanwhile, Lawyer for Mwanamvekha, Kalekeni Kaphale has faulted the ACB for effecting an arrest on his client without obtaining consent from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Kaphale also asked the state to provide a consolidated charge sheet as the one in place indicates Mwanamvekha as homeland security minister in 2022 while he does not hold such a position.
