At least 110 prisoners are expected to sit for this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination.

National Prisons spokesperson Superintendent Chimwemwe Shaba has confirmed.

According to Shaba, this year’s figures are higher than last year which only 79 candidates sat for the exams.

Shaba added that the inmates are from seven cluster centres.

Shaba has however bemoaned the lack of materials that are used during practical examinations in some centres.
