Police in Phalombe have launched a man-hunt for a man only known as Namathanga on suspicion that he has murdered a sex worker.

Phalombe Police Spokesperson, Jimmy Kapanja, has told the press that the woman, Ethel Kaponya, was on August 19, 2022 seen quarrelling with the suspect at one of the drinking joints at Phaloni Trade center, before some onlookers calmed the situation.

Kapanja alleges that the suspect was claiming his money and on the night of August 19, 2022, the suspect was again spotted at the Center while putting on the deceased’s clothes.

He further alleged that, on August 20, 2022, the woman’s body was then found in a maize field with blood oozing from the nose including her private parts and postmortem results revealed that death was due to strangulation secondary to suffocation.
