Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been on the limelight for the past two months due to the just concluded general elections.
Prior to the elections, politicians complained that the electoral body was not well prepared for the elections and that there were various gaps yet to be filled. However, IEBC assured Kenyans they were up to the task.
After the elections, Ruto was declared the president elect leading the opposition leader Raila Odinga petitioning the results. According to Raila, Ruto did not win the elections fairly.
The Azimio faction filed a petition at the Supreme Court ready to showcase how the IEBC rigged the elections.
The recent forms submitted at the court by IEBC has however, proved some truth in Raila’s petition. According to sources, some Form 34A have revealed errors in the presidential tally.
A sample of forms 34A indicates that there are votes that cannot be accounted for which could mean that the electoral agency’s final tally may be erroneous.
For example, one polling station at Lopur Primary School in Turkana County, the presiding officer listed 319 valid votes cast with no spoilt votes.
However, adding the votes each candidate got gives a total of 316 votes meaning three votes cannot be accounted for.
