Kenyans knew about the plight of 21 year old Forence Owiti Opiyo when his photos were posted on Facebook sometimes in September 2016.
Forence’s genitals had swollen to ten times the average size of a normal manhood. The young man could not wear normal trousers since his penis would not fit into the garments, he also had difficulty walking normally.
Olivia Raguma, the wife of Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, responded to Forence’s plea for help after his photos were shared on social media by a concerned neighbor.
Kisumu First Lady offered financial assistance to cater for Florence’s surgery at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in the lakeside city.
Surgeons scheduled two operations after examining Florence; the first to reduce the volume of swelling on the penis and to get rid of the excess testicle mass. The second was to reconstruct his penis and fashion it into a more usual shape and size.

Florence is currently is recuperating at home in Kibigori, Kisumu county after he successfully went under the knife to have his genitals restored to normal size.
Dr. James Obondi, one of the surgeons who performed the operation on Florence, was confident that the young man would live normally, he said Florence could have normal sexual function in just three months.
