At eight top police officers have been promoted to the positions of deputy inspector general and Commissioner of Police (CP) according to a circular seen by this publication.

The memo has communicated that the newly confirmed Inspector General of Police Merlyne Yolamu will be deputized by Happy Kang’oma Mkandawire, responsible for Administration and Caspper Boswell Chalera to man Operations.

Legal practitioner, Babra Mchenga Tsiga has also been promoted from DCP to Commissioner, to become the youngest female commissioner in the service.

The promotions are effective 29 August, 2022.
