The Black Missionaries Band has come out of the cocoon to trash media reports claiming that the police in Mzuzu arrested the members.

On Wednesday, media reports indicated that Black Missionaries Band members were picked for questioning over a bus they hired.

It is said that that a member of the band allegedly lied to the owner of the bus Julius Mwase, Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkhatabay North West constituency that he had a church trip to Salima.

According to Mzuzu Police spokesperson, Paul Tembo, the MP willingly released the vehicle for free being a church event.

He said weeks passed and the vehicle had not yet been returned only to find out that the vehicle was with the Black Missionaries Band on tour in the Northern Region.

But the Black Missionaries band has distanced its members from the allegations.

“It was the driver of the hired vehicle and his assistant who were called for interrogation over some disagreements between the two and the owner of the vehicle. The interrogation has nothing to do with any member of ma blacks,” reads in part the statement.
