A Blantyre police station officer has been arrested for allegedly raping six street children, all of them being girls.

The police officer has been identified as Emmanuel Phalavi, according to Blantyre Police spokesperson Ramsey Mshani.

According to Mshani, at the moment investigations are underway on the allegations leveled against Phalavi.

Phalavi’s arrest follows an identification parade which happened yesterday, following revelations that resurfaced from a focus group discussion which the Centre for Human Rights Education, Advice and Assistance had with the street connected children.
