The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) wants Justice Kenyatta Nyirenda to recuse himself from presiding over the judicial review case, where former Inspector General of police George Kainja is challenging his arrest in relation to the Zunneth Sattar corruption case.
According to ACB, Judge Nyirenda is having conflict of interest in the case.
ACB is also raising objections against having the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Attorney General as Parties to the case saying their inclusion adds no relevance to the case.
Kainja applied for a judicial review of the ACB’s decision to arrest him based on information obtained by a foreign body, the British National Crime Agency.
On Friday ACB raised preliminary objections and Justice Nyirenda is yet to decide on whether to hear main objections or not.
The case has since been adjourned to October 3, 2022.
