Chief Government Spokesperson, CHUSHI KASANDA has reaffirmed that lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender practice is ILLEGAL in Zambia.

Ms. KASANDA, who is also Information and Media Minister, has since WARNED that anyone found practising or promoting any of the said acts is liable to prosecution in the courts of law.

She has stated that the law is very clear on these matters, and has cited Sections 155, 156 and 158 of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Ms. KASANDA says the police and other law enforcement wings will therefore remain active and pursue all such cases, whenever and wherever reported.

She has explained that the value and principles, which define Zambia and its people, will never be sacrificed.

Ms. KASANDA says Zambians must uphold the moral values and principles of their society, which are in line with the declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation.

She has added that government also has a duty to promote, protect and defend the interest of the Zambian people.

The Chief Government Spokesperson has since called on the church, traditional leaders, civil society, as well as parents and guardians to join in the fight against lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender practice, which is ILLEGAL in Zambia.
