A 15-year-old boy from Sabibu Village, Traditional Authority Kapoloma in Machinga was rescued by Police in Mangochi from an angry mob who wanted to man-handle him after he has was caught red-handed in the house of McDonald Kapatuka, businessman within the township.

Mangochi Police Station Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi, has confirmed saying that the teenager was arrested over house breaking and theft and he will appear before court after completion of paperwork.

According to Daudi, upon being quizzed, he led the team from the Investigation branch to two houses within the township where police recovered some items suspected to have been stolen from various houses.

“The items include; three plasma TVs, 54 flat screen TV, 11 speakers, two LG monitors, four DVD players, two carpets, a six-inch double mattress, two cellphones, six remote controls, pressing iron and a laptop bag containing assorted breaking equipments with all items worthy K2.5 million,” Daudi said.

She added that the boy has also revealed his three accomplices who are yet to be arrested as police records indicate that, he has been committing offences for a long time but police have been diverting him from the criminal justice system.

“Mangochi Police Station therefore would like to request the public whose property was stolen and is similar to the ones mentioned above to come at the station for identification,” she advised.
