Two people are reported dead while several others have sustained serious injuries after a lorry they were traveling overturned Chiweta, Boliwoli hills in Rumphi district on Sunday evening September,2022.
The two have been identified as Solomon Msiska aged 25 of Kayera Village under Traditional Authority Mwasambo in Karonga and Wakisa Mwamondwe whose details are not yet advised.
Mathews Matemba aged, 37 of Mwenekawe Village in Karonga was the driver. He was driving Fuso Fighter lorry which its number plate was KA 5148, he was coming from Mzimba going to Karonga with 55 passengers who attended a church service at Euthini in Mzimba.
The driver lost control due to speeding, the lorry went off the road where it overturned several times and stopped after being blocked by a tree.
The driver and 13 other passengers had a serious injury while the other passengers only had minor injuries, the vehicle has extremely damaged and as of now they are receiving treatment at Rumphi District Hospital.
The police has warned the drivers about the same issue to avoid similar accidents.
