Workers at United States Cannabis Association (USCA) have gone 7 months without pay
The workers have since penned management demanding their salary arrears or else threaten for a strike.
USCA is a private corporation that encourages cannabis farming in Malawi though its Agri-Zyda farm.
In the letter, the workers have complained about not being paid for seven months since January to July 2022 and the Management have not yet communicated with them about their payments.
The workers also mentioned about the CEO dismissing a meeting that the workers organized.
USCA Chief executive said, “I blame the workers for rushing to the media before presenting their concerns to the company’s secretary, Paul Maulidi though the meeting has been canceled by the CEO”
“We agree that we have not fulfill our promise as we agreed in the first place about paying the workers every month, which is making other workers leave the system. We cannot resolve the issue through media but, we can only solve it in-house and the issue will be solve immediately,” said the Chief Executive Officer Wezzie Ngalamira.
The company’s secretary has requested the workers to inform the management with supporting documents so that the issue should be solved.
