Government’s decision to redeploy some District Commissioners continues coming under heavy criticism as the Malawi Local Government Association-MALGA describes the move as irregular.
MALGA President Davie Maunde has claimed at a media briefing in Blantyre that the decision was made without consulting councillors.
The Association further questions the powers that Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Collen Zamba used in effecting her decision of redeploying the DC’s; hinting they will seek legal action.
On Saturday, Nsanje residents and district councillors protested the redeployment of their DC Dr. Medson Matchaya.
Neno residents and chiefs have also spoken against the transfer of their DC, Justin Kathumba with authorities in the two districts saying they will write government to reverse its decision on the matter.
