The Lilongwe High Court has given a nod to Redson Munlo to lead peaceful demonstrations in Lilongwe today, but it has restrained Kingsley Mpaso and Human Rights Ambassadors (HRA) from participating in the planned demonstrations.

Earlier this week, the Lilongwe District Commissioner Dr. Lawford Palani blocked the demonstrations on grounds that the law enfocers will be busy manning filling stations.

The move forced the organizer to seek court intervention hence the ruling.

The demos, expected to start at Wakawaka to Capital Hill, are reportedly pushing for the resignation of President Lazarus Chakwera and his vice, Dr. Saulos Chilima for allegedly failing to run the country.

The organizers also want the president to call for a referendum if he can’t step down.

Chakwera is currently in New York, United States of America attending the United Nations General Assembly and returns home on Oct 2.
