Former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is this coming Saturday scheduled to grace the this year’s Mulhakho wa Lhomwe festival at Chonde in Mulanje.
The revelations come after the organizers of the event blocked President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera from attending the cultural festival on grounds that he is ill-treating the Lhomwes.
DPP Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Ward Leonard Chimbanga has confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page.
According to Chimbanga, Mutharika will be the guest of honour at the event.
“His Excellency Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika will be guest of Honour at the Mulhako festival in his capacity as Patron this weekend at Chonde,” wrote Chimbanga.
Meanwhile, DPP Member Ken Msonda has blasted the organizers for sidelining President Chakwera at the event.
