Roads Funds Administration (RFA) plans to construct a tall gate on the M1 road between Nkhamenya in Kasungu and Jenda in Mzimba.
RFA Public Relations Manager Masauko Mngwaluko said the tollgate will help the government to raise enough money by collecting it from the owners of the vehicle and it would help in constructing other damaged roads.
Traditional Authority Kalikokha, in whose jurisdiction the toll plaza will be constructed, said he is ready for the project because he wants to reduce road accidents that has been occurring due to the bad condition of roads and it will give job opportunities to many people.
The road construction will use K7 billion which is already allocated in the 2022/23 National Budget.
The first tollgate plaza was mounted at Kalinyeke in Dedza and Chingeni in Ntcheu which raised K1.9 billion in the end of May 31st 2022.
