The Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) is demanding that President Lazarus Chakwera should clear himself on assertions he prematurely made public names of corruption suspects connected to businessman Zunneth Sattar.

CDEDI Executive Director, Sylvester Namiwa made the request at a media briefing in the capital Lilongwe today.

According to Namiwa, Chakwera’s silence on the matter in his speech at Kamuzu International Airport yesterday on arrival from United Nations General Assembly “left a lot to be desired”.

President Chakwera relieved all delegated duties to his Vice Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima two months ago after he was implicated in the said Corruption Scandal.

The President also fired Inspector General of Malawi Police Service Dr. George Kainja and replaced him with Merlyn Yolamu.

He also suspended the Director of Public Procurement.
