President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has described his recent trip to New York where he attended this year’s United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) as fruitful.

Chakwera said this upon arrival at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in the capital Lilongwe on Tuesday.

Chakwera said the trip has been a great benefit to Malawi, and he believes that Malawi will benefit greatly from the investments across many sectors.

“Though it was my first time attending the United Nations General Assembly, but itself was a great meeting. Malawi will benefit greatly from investments across many sectors like Education, Energy, Agriculture, Health, Sports and so forth,” He said.

Chakwera also said he was glad to meet the royal family of UAE.

“I also had a stopover in UAE where I was glad to meet with the royal family, where we discussed about various issues to deal with investments but we were more concerned with electricity issue as well as the fuel issue,” said Chakwera.

The Malawi Congress Party Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka and Regional Chairman for Central Region Zebron Chilondola praised the president for the good work he has done and states that the MCP will continue ruling Malawi until 2060.

Speaking in an interview with Beatrice who attended the rally she said, “It is true that our president attended the United Nation General Assembly, and he had signed a $350 million Millennium Challenge Corporation which will help our poor country in many ways like construction of roads and other things.”
