The management of University of Malawi (UNIMA) formerly known as Chancellor College (CHANCO) has suspended two students on allegations of sexual harrasment and theft.
UNIMA Assistant Registrar Towera Mwathunga has confirmed of the development in a MEMO seen by this publication.
“The University of Malawi disciplinary committe has yesterday decided that Henry Msuku, a first year student studying Bachelor of Science in Geology, to stay home for two academic years on sexual harassment allegations while Billy Adam, second year student studying Bachelor of Arts Humanities, has been suspended for one semester for stealing a cellphone,” reads in part the MEMO.
The management has also issued a stain warning to two other students.
“The committe has further sent concrete warning to Rodney Kapachika, a second year student studying Bachelor of Education in Mathematics, for allowing illegal resident in campus who was operating business. Another strong warning has also gone to Joseph Jika, a third year student studying Bachelor of Education in Computer Studies, for residing in campus illegaly and operating business as well,” added the MEMO.
The two students have since left the campus.
