President Lazarus Chakwera has opened Phalombe District Hospital worthy 30 billion kwacha whereby the project was started in 2017 and being launched today at Phalombe District. The hospital has been belt together with 75 self-contained houses for doctors and nurses and some hostels for trainees.

Phalombe District Hospital is said to be the unique hospital in Malawi, whereby the hospital has more items than any other hospitals in the country.

Chakwera has appreciated the great work by saying the modern hospital will help to save more peoples since the district had no hospital around.

“The modern district hospital will help to save lives because there is a new hospital nearby, patients are not supposed to walk a long distance. The hospital has also brought job opportunities to many people in our country” said Chakwera.

Phalombe District Hospital was meant to be a health hospital but at the end it is a District Hospital whereby the hospital is in need of some funding.

Chakwera has assured the doctors and nurses that the government will try its best to help the hospital with items like solar panels, water tanks and other things.

In an interview with one of the people who attended the gathering Kumbukani said the hospital will help a lot, and the modern hospital has many rooms and contains 250 beds.

The hospital has more departments like the under-five, Out Patient Department, mortuary, maternity, HIV clinics, dental service, eye service, laboratory and other more department.

The project was sponsored by Arab Bank for Economy Development and Saudi Band for Development.
