President Lazarus Chakwera has advised people of Phalombe not to worry about hunger, saying soon his government will start distributing maize relief in the district.

Chakwera said this when responding to the concerns raised by Senior Chief Kaduya.

“On behalf of Phalombe District we would like to inform you about the scarcity of hygienic water and hunger in our district. Currently vendors are selling maize at an exorbitant price which is close to k500 per KG.

“We were counting on mangoes but mango season is now gone, so we are asking if Admarc could be open for us to get a bit cheaper price of maize.”

But in his response Chakwera said: “American government is helping our country in different sectors including agriculture sector, this might help the farmers to make more products to sell at the market and make enough money for themselves.”

Turning ADMARC situation, Chakwera shunned the question.

ADMARC is currently closed due to what government says mismanagement of the state owned Company.
