Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Vice President for the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has blasted President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for planning to buy Presidential Jet.
Earlier this week, the social media was awash with reports that Chakwera has purchased a Presidential Jet as one way of cost cutting measures.
The rumours attracted mixed reactions with many criticizing the President over the matter.
Nankhumwa has since added his voice on the matter asking President Chakwera to come on the open and explain to Malawians the truth behind the rumours.
“President Chakwera must also make a public statement to assure Malawians that he is not buying a private jet like it is being circulated.
“If there are plans to buy the plane, let him tell Malawians why that decision has been made,” said Nankhumwa during media briefing held at Grace Bandawe in Blantyre on Thursday.
But State House Press Officer Anthony Kasunda has trashed the claims.
He said President Chakwera has not purchased the said plane.
