Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Mangochi South Shadreck Namalomba has accused Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara of being behind leadership crisis rocking the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament.

Namalomba said this after the failed PAC meeting on Tuesday at Parliament building in the capital Lilongwe.

Parliament Secretariat blocked the meeting on grounds of the court case.

Writing on his official facebook page Namalomba attributed the leadership crisis in PAC to Speaker Catherine Gotani Hara.

“My Fellow Malawians, there is something faulty and wrong with our Parliament. The Speaker says Public Accounts Committee should not have any enquiries into looting of public resources until the case in court of leadership that restated me is over.

“On the other the case of Leader of Opposition is also in court. And yet Hon Nankhumwa is not stopped from discharging his duties in Parliament as leader of opposition. What double standards? What selective application of justice?” said Namalomba.

He added: “Time will tell. Malawians are watching. There is nothing permanent. Only time is!”

Hara is yet to comment on the matter.
