United Transformation Movement (UTM) member Ben Kambulire has resigned from the party and he has defected to the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Kambulire has been welcomed into the blue camp by the party’s Eastern Region Governor for the DPP, Emran Mtenje.

Speaking after the ceremony Kambulire said he has resigned from the UTM because the party has lost direction and is showing no signs of competing in the 2025 elections.

On his part, Mtenje said the joining of Kambulire, who was also a NEC member for UTM, is an indication that Malawians still have trust in the DPP.
