Malawi leader Lazarus Chakwera has fired agriculture minister Lobin Lowe and his deputy Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima over mismanagement of this year’s Affordable Input Programme.

During his national address last night, Chakwera replaced Lowe with Sam Kawale who was minister of lands just days after he replaced Lowe as chairperson of the AIP.

According to Chakwera his decision follows a litany of indecisiveness regarding the program is a clear sign of high incompetence and gross negligence.

Chakwera also described news that the country was duped funds amounting to K750 million by a British company in a quest to purchase fertilizer as an acceptable.

According to Chakwera, investigations revealed that the funds were paid to two different companies of different countries as well.

He then assured Malawians that efforts are being made to ensure that the funds have been recovered.
