President William Ruto today presided over the swearing-in ceremony of his first Cabinet Secretaries.
A total of 24 CS were sworn in this morning at State House Nairobi just a day after parliament approved the nominees.
The event signaled the final nail in the coffin for former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government as his appointments were still in office despite the Kenya Kwanza government coming into power last month.
In his speech just after the swearing in ceremony was concluded, the newly elected fifth president urged the cabinet secretaries to put their best foot forward in ensuring that they serve the people of this country diligently and honestly.
He also promised to make more appointments that will be represent all regions in the country.
The ‘hustlers’ president also urged his troops to work in seriousness and asked them to remember the oaths of office they took.
In a light moment towards the end of his short speech, the Head of State ended with a quote from the Bible.
” I will conclude with a word from the Bible. The book of James 4:17 says that he who knows what right wand is fails to do it will be counted as a sinner. I hereby tell you that if you fail to do what is right, you will not only not go to Heaven but you will have a problem with me,” he said amidst laughs from his audience.
The new Cabinet is expected to start work immediately.
