A woman is battling for her life at Kasungu District Hospital after being hit by a teargas canister fired by police following violent protests in the district.
This morning some angry Malawians stormed Kasungu Town to protests against foreigners following reports that one of the suspects connected to the Standard Bank robbery Wednesday night is a non Malawian.
This resulted to running battles between the police and the protesters and this forced the law enforcers to use teargas to disperse them.
It is said that one of the stray teargas canisters exploded at the forehead of the woman while at her house as the law enforces were throwing the teargas anyhow.
The woman has been identified as Esnart Nyirongo.
The law enforcers are yet to comment on the matter.
