Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South on Saturday visited civil rights activists that were arrested following anti-government demonstrations held in Lilongwe on Friday, October 28, 2022.

Among the arrested people included Joshua Chisa Mbele who was the lead organizer of the said demonstrations.

Nankhumwa later visited Levy Luwemba who is being held at Nathenje Police station 30 kilometers South of the city.

The aspiring Presidential candidate encouraged both Mbele and Luwemba as well as the rest of the detainees to remain strong, pledging his personal support as they pursue their freedom and that of all Malawians.

The detained protesters will appear in court this afternoon for formal charges.
