The University Of Malawi (UNIMA) formerly Chancellor College has been closed indefinitely following vigil students from the institution have been holding.

For three days, the students have been demonstrating against the institution’s just released school calendar which will see students going for a five month holiday.

According to the students, some will be finishing their studies in approximately seven years.

In a statement signed by the university’s acting registrar Mary Wasiri, all students residing in the campus have been ordered to leave the campus premises by midday today.

Yesterday, Students Representative Council Vice President Catherine Mwangonde called on chancellor for the university, President Lazarus Chakwera, to intervene in the academic calendar battle.
