Leader of Opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South has asked President Lazarus Chakwera to fire his entire Cabinet arguing that the ministers have failed to improve the country’s socio-economic status.

Nankhumwa said this during media briefing held at Parliament building in the capital Lilongwe on Wednesday.

“Dissolve the whole cabinet and appoint a lean one of about 18 members to cut on spending.

“Reduce the number of presidential advisors. This advisory task can be performed by cabinet ministers,” said Nankhumwa.

Nankhumwa also highlighted fuel and forex shortages as well as suspected fraud in the Affordable Inputs Programme fertiliser procurement as some of the challenges the government is failing to address.

The leader of opposition has also asked President Lazarus Chakwera to cancel his trip to Egypt to save forex.
