MERA suspends fuel purchase permit for Jerry-can users

Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has suspended purchase permits for temporary and bulk fuel.
The development comes amid fuel crisis across the country and motorists are spending hours to purchase the fuel.
And some have resorted in by the commodity in black-market.
In a statement released today, (MERA) said it has arrived at the decision because of “rampant abuse of the permits by both legitimate permit holders and unscrupulous individuals”.
