Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South On Thursday afternoon visited the Labour Ward which was closed by authorities at Bwaila Hospital in the capital Lilongwe.
His visit came barely hours after authorities at the hospital announced the closure of the Labour Ward due to non-function of some facilities in the ward.
The hospital started referring of pregnant women who are due for delivery and those in need of operation to Kamuzu Central Hospital.
Speaking when he visited the facility Nakhumwa said he expects the authorities to do their best to ensure people are able to get the necessary support.
Meanwhile, the labour ward has since been re-opened.
