Fire has gutted a paying Out Patient Department structure at Chikwawa District Hospital in the wee hours of Tuesday.
District Director of Health and Social Services, Dr. Stalin Zinkanda has confirmed of the development in an interview with the state controlled Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).
According to Zinkanda, the cause of the inferno remains unknown, but he claims that shortly before the accident, there were sparks on nearby an ESCOM power lines.
There has been no reports of death or injuries, but the facility has been reduced to ashes, with property worth millions of Kwacha being damaged.
