A Senior Resident Magistrate Court sitting in Chitipa on Tuesday sentenced Raison Kaira and Aswell Kapira to 15 years in jail for extracting human tissue of a person with albinism and 15 years jail term for trespassing on a graveyard, both sentences to run concurrently.

Senior Resident Magistrate Abdul Issa Maulidi passed the two sentences after finding the two guilty of entering a graveyard, tampering with a graveyard, exhuming a dead body of Bollington Kaira and chopping two arms.

The incident happened at Kamilamphande village, in the area of Senior Chief Mwenewenya in Chitipa district in August 2018.

The two were arrested in March 2020 and convicted in August this year.

Raison Kaira, 41 and Aswell Kapira, 42 come from Kamilamphande village, in the area of Senior Chief Mwenewenya in Chitipa district.
