Zambia President Hakainde Hichilema has arrived back home from Sharm El-Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt where he attended the Conference of Parties 27 (COP27).

Though this is the case, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of the republic of Malawi is yet to return home despite numerous challenges rocking the country.

Some the challenges being experienced are fuel shortage among others.

Speaking upon arrival in Zambia highlighted the benefits of the trip to Egypt.

“We have returned from Sharm El-Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt where we attended the COP27 High Level Segment for Heads of State and Government, at the invitation of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic of Egypt.

“We addressed this important Summit on climate change and held several bilateral engagements with fellow Heads of State. We also spoke with various development partners and stakeholders on critical issues relating to climate change,” said Hakainde Hichilema.

He added: As always, we used the trip to encourage trade and investment opportunities for the benefit of our people.

“We must protect our natural resources and so we took the opportunity of this trip to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the European Union on the preservation of our forests, which are under imminent threat as a result of climate change.”
