Malawi experiences national wide blackout

Last night the country experienced national blackout, the Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO) confirmed.
According to a statement issued by the company, the national shutdown was effected after experiencing a huge disturbance on the system emanating from the 66KV transmission lines between Tedzani-Blantyre and Tedzani-Nkula A.
The statement further reported that a tower collapsed and as a result all generation units as per designed protection were shut down.
EGENCO then apologized to the populace for any inconvenience caused by the shutdown.
