One of the country’s controversial preachers, Prophet Austin Liabunya has attracted backlash from Christians especially those who belong to Pentecostal churches for allegedly siding with right activists Seodi White.
In the past weekend, the human rights lawyer White stormed a Pentecostal Church in her neighbourhood accusing congregants of making noise during prayers.
Things went out of hand when one of the church members called White a ‘devil’ and that she is at the church to seek deliverance.
Seodi White’s action has attracted condemnation from followers and some church leaders especially from the Pentecostals.
Instead of siding with fellow church leaders, Liabunya has backed White on the matter.
“I, Senior Prophet Austin Liabunya Stand with Seodi White!,” wrote Liabunya.
Liabunya’s stand has attracted criticisms from his followers.
Leo Peesy wrote: “I respect you, for me to see people praying kaya mokuwa it’s oky…. Inuyo simunavepo mwazini akulila in the morning tulo tikukoma? Church or mizikiti singakhale ku tchile…. Don’t let the devil win.”
Another follower identified as Antoni Samuel wrote: “Some of prophet they’re very very suptid fokofo sheet kwambili mbamva.”
Meanwhile, White has been attacked by some church members and the case has since been reported to Blantyre Police.
