The Black Missionaries Band is set to host the annual commemoration of its founder Evison Matafale, slated for November, 27, 2022 at Civil Ground at Gadaga in Chileka, Blantyre.

This will be Matafale’s 21st edition memorial show.

According to Anjiru Fumulani the Band’s lead vocalist, preparations for the memorial show are almost done, adding that this year’s show will be more advanced.

Anjiru further said that people will be updated in due course on the activities that will be carried on the day including artist that will perform.

“We will update people on the activities and performances as we draw near but, for now, we can confirm that the memorial is on November 27 and the venue will be the same,” Anjiru said.

Anjiru continued that this year’s memorial show has also been set in remembrance of other late artists from Black Missionaries crew who were Musamude and Gift Fumulani.

Evison Matafale is regarded as one of the heroes in history of music here in Malawi and also the founder of reggae music.

His music used to speak for the oppressed.“His death on November 27 2001 shocked the country and a lot of people had fears that this would be the end of Black Missionaries”, Anjiru said.
