Malawi Relief Funds UK (MRF-UK) has handed over 142 decent houses and four boreholes to needy people in the village of Mchiliko and Malowa in Mangochi District.
MRF-UK Country Coordinator, Yakub Vialli confirmed that more houses are being built in other villages.
According to Vialli, they started building the houses after the 2015 floods in Chiradzulu, Mangochi, Zomba, Phalombe, and Salima.
Vialli said, “When handing over the houses we also provide a starter pack of items like mattress, blankets and kitchen utensils and we also sink boreholes in the beneficiaries’ communities, to provide clean water to vulnerable people,”
“Beaming with the beneficiaries indicated that they can now concentrate on other activities like farming and business” added Vialli
MRF-UK has been involved in many projects across the country and has also managed a Talha Scholarship that reaches out to 240 students in various universities and colleges in which over a 100 females are in teacher training programmes.
MRF-UK swiftly moved in to helping the victims of Cyclone Ana with relief items that included food, clothing, blankets, safe water and shelter in the Lower Shire.
