Malawi National Bee Spelling (MNSB) says nine children will represent the country during 5th African Bee spelling competition to be held at Golden Peacock in Blantyre this year from December 6th to 11th 2022.

MNSB Co-founder and CEO Lewis Mbaula, said the representatives were selected from the finals that took place this year July.

“During the finals we had junior urban category, junior rural category and senior category, so we picked the top three of each category to partake in the forthcoming 5th African Bee contest, “said Mbaula.

Mbaula said, the target is to bring children from 20 countries but so far 15 countries have confirmed to participate in the fourth coming continental competition.

We had the representatives from different schools such as Atsikana pa Ulendo, Zomba Urban Secondary, Sir Harry International High School, Kasangu Primary school in Dowa, Diversity academy in Chikwawa, Puteya primary school in Machinga, Chinguluwe primary school in Salima and Eagle Nest Academy.

The nine representatives will be under preparatory camp at Hapuwani Lodge in Mulanje from November 29th to 5th December.

Spelling bee helps in teaching English vocabulary.

Spelling bee is a contest which provides an alternative activity in teaching English vocabulary and it requires participants to spell out English words correctly.
